Tooth #8 - OUT!

For more than 2 weeks she wriggled and wriggled... see her tongue pushing it out?!

Then on Saturday night November 14, 2010, while I was reading to them she complained that she could taste blood.  So I encouraged her to wiggle more.  She's on this mission to lose her tooth a different way EACH time!  I rationed that she can't do this EVERY time... I reminded her that she has not wriggled one out by herself yet!  So, she tried harder and harder... and guess what happened?  It came out!  ALL BY HERSELF, she got it out!  It did not come out 1) while eating an apple, 2) Dr. Corcoran did not pull it out, 3) I did not pull it out with floss at Becky's house, 4) it did not fly out and then into the sink drain while I tried to pull a different one out with a piece of floss, 5) she did not hit a chair, 6) she did not swallow it while easting fish and chips in Hawaii, 7) eating corn at Clare's and there is one more way.. but I can't think of how that one came out...

So, Ta-da!  The next day, #8 is out!

You can't tell, huh?!  Well, it's out and she says she feels funny without it.  :)  Guess what E and MD are trying?  Well, MD more than E... they are wiggling their teeth too!  HAHA!!!!

Tooth #7... OUT!

The night before she started second grade (August 29, 2010)... while eating corn at Jim and Clare's!  (we've been busy and I forgot that this was int he draft file!  So it's a bit of a late update!)

That night she wrote a note:  (I can't seem to figure out why it uploaded sideways!)

The next morning she was rewarded!

Now we wait...#8 is starting to wriggle a bit...stay tuned!

They all had their annual check-ups... with a new doctor -- Dr. Rita Zorian.  All 3 have been seeing Dr. R. Berry Armstrong since the day they were born.  They were so sad to learn that we were no longer going to see doctor Armstrong for their wellness checks.  I have more to say about this wonderful man.  Another post!

We've only seen Dr. Zorian once awhile ago when MG and E had croup.  This was our second visit with her. So far, so good!  But NOT Dr. Armstrong!  :(

E's stats:

36 1/2" tall, 31 1/2 lbs, 20/20 vision, passed hearing test (so what's his excuse for not doing what I ask?!)

 MD's stats:

44 3/4" tall, 52 lbs, 20/20 vision, and passed his hearing test (again I ask -- why can't he hear me the first time when I holler for him to brush his teeth?!)

He had 3 shots today!  Poor guy!

 MG's stats:

46" tall, 44 lbs., 20/20 vision, and passed her hearing test too!

 What they did while the others were being tested: 

And then the dentist's visit on August 16, 2010 -- all did very well in this area too!  NO CAVITIES this year for anyone!  (remember MG had one last year in kindergarten? she was pretty traumatized by that filling so she's been really good with keeping her teeth healthy!)

Fluoride thing -- I thought she was going to gage!  But she did so well!!!  Meg, was also able to get her to do the teeth x-ray without her complaining!  Woohoo!!!  What a great visit we had today!

 E watched MG getting her teeth cleaned.  Here they are looking at her teeth x-ray together:

 And he did fabulous!  The ladies here all know him and so he was very comfortable.  I think his first official visit in February is going to be just fine, what do you all think?!  ;)

MD insisted on going by himself -- so no photos.  Meg raved about him.  I guess he was a good patient!  :)

After their dental visit -- we headed over to the Los Gatos library lawn area to meet up with some old friends.  You won't believe it but this group here used to consist of these 2 baby boys below, Kenyon (in red shirt and blue hat in back) and Kiran (front blue shirt with arms up), and these 2 baby girls below, Emma K. (in pink in front of Kenyon) and Morgan.  We are missing Kylie, Vincent, and Emma F.  We 7 moms met at Kaiser's Breastfeeding Club and now our number has grown -- we are now 17 children strong!!!!  (please correct me if I am wrong anyone)

 After a long day of playing... the boys decided they would help me with dinner.  Are you impressed?  E helped me wash the bok choy and then cut them too!  Yes, he did a lot by himself -- with my supervision of course!  And yes, that is the same sharp knife that I use to cut fruits and veggies!

 Well, you are used to seeing him help me.  Tonight was no different.  He not only helped cut the on choy, he also helped me stir fry them in garlic with coconut oil.  We then added black bean paste for more flavor.  He ate this dish up in seconds and asked for THIRDS!  That's my guy!  ;)

#6 GONE!

SO... guess how she lost tooth  #6?!

Let's back up to this afternoon's conversation in the car.
MG:  Oh, mom, it's really loose!
me: Want me to pull it out?  (I'm getting pretty good at that now!)
MG:  (calmly) No, I think I want a different story.
me:  Really?
MG: Yes!
me: Okay, you'd better stop wriggling it then.

That was around noon.  We'd forgotten about it the rest of the day... until 5:45PM.  We decided to eat at Coconut Fish Cafe.  They had really great reviews for their fish burgers and fish tacos.  We were just given our dinner.  Everyone was eating.  Suddenly, MG shouts, "My tooth!  It's gone!"  "Oh my gosh," I shout.  We looked in her mouth, sure enough, her tooth was gone.  We looked on her plate.  Not there.  We looked in her fish.  (She called it chicken!)  Nope, not there either!  We looked in her water.  Not there.  We looked in her fries.  Not there.  Okay... last check... in her ketchup?  Not there!  Oh man... she really did lose her tooth!  She giggled and said, "it tasted good with the ketchup!"  Haha!!!  She though it was hilarious!  I thought she would be upset about it.  Well, it sure makes for a great story!  Anyway, it must've tasted good... because we think she really did swallow it!  Even though she can't remember swallowing it!  Oh well... It'll be out soon! ;)  But don't expect any updates to confirm that!

Before bed this evening, she wrote a letter to the tooth fairy explaining that she swallowed her tooth.
I'm sure the tooth fairy has heard this story many times!  Anyway, she lost her 6th tooth in Maui... that's different!  Remember when she lost her 1st tooth in Washington?!

#5 OUT!

It was wiggling.
It was dangiling...
It was driving me crazy and grossing everyone out!
And she loved teasing us with it...
So we made a bargain -- I pull out and she gets some Starbursts in return (just 4... she bargained to 5!)

And here you have it -- #5 finally out!!!!
Still dangling on that floss -- she said it was painful...

I believe it!

But all better now....

Her friends were impressed she let me pull it out!  ;)  There is one more loose one... stay tuned!

Another tooth out!

#4 tooth came out yesterday evening.  She and MD were playing freeze tag.  She tried to scoot behind my office chair to hide from him, hit the arm rest, and said "OW!"  I looked over and she had her tooth in the palm of her hand!  Phew -- Glad I didn't have to pull that one out!

And the tooth fairy visited -- I had to write a note requesting she left her tooth (that's what's in the plastic bag):

The tooth fairy has been generous!  Wow, $2 a tooth... wonder if I can donate mine?  How much do we get?!  Check out that awesome letter from the tooth fairy!

Off to swim lessons!

FINALLY -- it's OUT!!!!

During her last visit to the dentist on January 12, 2010 we found out her two top front teeth were loose.  By Easter Sunday -- yes, April 4, 2010, we were certain it would finally come out.  But it did not come out.  So she wiggled, she jiggled, she tugged,and she pushed with her tongue to the point they were getting blisters and canker sores!  We were all getting frustrated -- SHE was getting frustrated!

We joked around with her that we should tie her tooth to the door and slam it shut.  Or tie her tooth to the car and have her run after us as we drove away.  She kept laughing at us and screaming, "NO!!!!"  So the last couple of nights, I have been brushing that particular tooth really hard after dinner.  Then I would wrap gauze around it and wiggle it some more... nothing happened!

Tonight, May 13, 2010 while wiggling it with gauze, I asked her if I could just try tying a piece of floss to the tooth.  (Like her friend Cassie's dad did with Cassie's tooth - with little success I think)  She agreed!  We went to the bathroom, she sat on the sink counter, I tied the tooth with floss and tugged.. NOTHING!
Well, there was something... her screaming at me!  "Ow, that hurt!"

Then she giggled...so I asked if I could give it one more try.  She agreed!  Wow, she was agreeable tonight!  She kept her lips tight for awhile though....  So knowing that this was my last chance tonight, I gave it my all -- and guess what?  It went flying out of her mouth, out of the knot of the floss(!), then  landed in the sink, and went directly DOWN the DRAIN!!!!  We all watched it -- MD, MG, and I!  I screamed -- NO!!!!!!  But it was too late.... it went plink! and then was gone!  We were shocked it happened...  It never crossed my mind that it would happen like that.  I assumed that it would stay on the floss!

So she was disappointed that her tooth was "lost", but she was glad to be finally rid of that darn tooth!
Here's one happy girl:

You can see that her adult tooth is already making its way out!

Then she promptly sat down and wrote this:

I can't figure out how to turn this...  She wrote:

"Dear Tooth Fairy,
I lost my tooth tonight.
But it fell down the drain when my mom pulled my top tooth out.
Love, Morgan Quach"

The reason why she felt it "necessary" to state that it was her top tooth was out was because she was "told" by some source (Melinda!) that the top teeth gets more money from the tooth fairy.  She was going to write, "please, may I have $2 since this is my top tooth?"  I suggested she not write because getting money from the tooth fairy is a treat and a good surprise.  So she ended the letter immediately!

So, that's that!
