This week's book and today's art activity:

Planet, Stars, and Galaxies -- National Geographics

This book is incredible! The photos are so colorful and E loves opening it up! "This is my favorite, mommy!" he proclaims. So, we thought we'd look at a few pages this week, learn a few things that are of interest to us... and just get started on our summer activities.

I saw an activity here and thought we'd give it a try.

He did his own thing, as always... but always with us! ;)

As usual.. the perfectionist! :)

Since he is left handed, we had to continually turn his paper so he wouldn't get too much watercolor on his hand! His sun is originally at the bottom.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the colors! A trick I learned while teaching -- get the watercolors wet ahead of time (at least 30 min) so that by the time you are ready to watercolor, the colors are vibrant!

Almost finished! She drew in stars with a white crayon... when she watercolored the black over - the stars magically appeared! This was their favorite part!
