Finally, summer has arrived - for us! The cool weather has been a bit confusing. But now, it is finally nice and hot!
We know it's summer when we can jump into the pool and learn all the ins and outs of pool safety.
They had a blast today. They met their new teacher, Candace, who owns Sea Turtle Swim School. The pool is actually at her mom's house! But the facility is equipped with the essentials of a swim school.
1) chairs for waiting and viewing:
2) a portable heater for after lessons (this was very necessary for my skinny ones, MG and E! They were shivering!)
3) a changing area (with curtains for privacy)
4) a table for playing games as each student waits his or her turn
5) a portable potty (it's nice to sign up for lessons first thing in the morning! hint, hint)
6) and a pool!
MD went first and when he was done, he said to me, "Mom that was so much fun!" My heart was very happy! :)
And he really did -- look at him go! He did everything she asked and was very positive about the lesson. Although he still needs a lot of work, I am so happy that he was excited about his lesson.
E went second so that if he did not do well, MG would have a few extra minutes with the teacher. He did really well for about 20 minutes. However, I can't sugar coat it -- he was nervous and softly cried during the instructions. He did everything she asked, but through low cries. His lips pouted, but he did it all! I was so proud of him!
Look at him! He did everything that MD did -- everything! The only difference is that she held him more during his instructions.
He was nervous to jump in, but he did it! :)
She was awesome! She is a pro now. Although she is nervous to put her head in the water, she did. Today her lesson mainly focused on side breathing, as she has the strokes down. Every time she came up for air, she stood up. So that will be the focus for the next few lessons -- until she is comfortable enough to keep swimming while side breathing, rather than stopping to breath.
This is the bowling ball! Pretty cool, huh? I think she stayed under for 12 seconds!
Today they all had 30 minute private lessons. Tomorrow they will have a small group lesson -- all 3 at once. We'll see how that goes!
